![]() ![]() Even with an extremely high perception your character can only really notice what is directly in front of them, and for something like a trap, this warning comes a little too late. Perception is such a hit and miss attribute. ![]() The maps are big and (mostly) fun to explore, however, especially late game, it throws way too many traps casually just to get in your way, it's difficult to notice what is important as some objects blend in with the environments a little too well. The infinite inventory is an absolute god-send though. Also having to identify EVERY single item you find is ridiculous. Some people may prefer this, I did not enjoy having to micro-manage my inventory consistently. This sounds like such a weird complaint, but you honestly do get swamped with gear, and at best they are usually minor upgrades. They have very, very simple story-lines, not even arcs, and other than some over world comments add basically nothing and do not react to some of the insane things happening at all. Companions are borderline non-existant. The main quest is particularly bad because the characters and situations feel very muddled and not very engaging. It's honestly one of the worst parts of the game and happens about 2 hours in. It starts out very grounded and feels very immersive before you get whiplash from "GOTTA SAVE THE WORLD". You do get a way to deal with it on ONE type of enemy, but not others - The side quests are quite fun and varied, but the main quest is awful. A lot unfortunately become trawling through notes and books in order to find the one thing you need to do in a particular room - Void Armour is legitimately the worst thing to ever exist and detracts massively from some later fights. There is very little direction for what you have to do sometimes (and not in the fun way). (This doesn't apply to situations OUTSIDE of the quests they are linked in, for example you can stop a town being terrorized and no one in town other than the quest giver mentions it) Cons: - Maps are massive considering your movement speed (install a mod) - Attack and spell animations mean that in some battles you are waiting 4-5 minutes before you get a turn (install a mod) - While the puzzles start out with a lot of options later ones become more restrictive and more 'You HAVE to do it this way' than I would like - The quest log is really quite awful. 56h PlayedPros: - A lot to explore - A LOT of voiced interactions with characters and objects - Some excellent and creative situations - A lot of roleplaying and puzzle solving options available (at first) - Having to read books and listening carefully to conversations can be fun in figuring out quests (sometimes) - It can be very funny, a lot of comments and situations had me smiling or laughing out loud - Branching ways throughout a great deal of the quests, and NPCs will react to decisions you make differently both throughout AND after which makes those particular situations feel SO alive. ![]()
